There is a fly in here, and it is driving me crazy.

"Good use of comma, yes?" (I was always taught that you couldn't have a comma before the word 'and', but many times I fancy doing precisely that).

Waiter, waiter, there's a dead fly in my soup.
What do you expect for £1 - a live one?

Great grammar. I tried reading 'Eats, Shoots & Leaves' by Lynne Truss but thought I would never be able to write again.

Yes, the comma and 'and' debate. I was always taught that before an and it wasn't required, and I agree, sometimes it just feels right, even if it's wrong, like then.

Who made up these rules, only one thing is important, the reader understands what you are writing.
